It was only because I declared that I would return that I could put to rest the war within. It was agreed this would not be the first and last visit. The pull to return to this southern gateway of wonder has never left – it’s 24 years since my first visit, but not my [...]

I’ve lived in Tassie for almost my whole life and there’s still so much to see and do, and now I get to do it with my kids too. Last summer the whole family packed up our ute with a tent and a thousand other things to head west.  Our loose goal was to revisit [...]

How can you not fall in love with Tasmania’s beauty – even the locals know how to name the towns. I have hundreds of photos from my many trips, yet this one, simple sign summarises everything.

I’ve always felt privileged growing up in a beautiful country like Australia, it’s a place of great weather, breathtaking scenery, multiculturalism, hygiene and very friendly people, but I think Tasmania has to be the epitome of all those things. We had a beautiful  journey through the rainforest out to Strathgordon Dam- which is approximately 2 hours north west of Hobart. We were blown away by the magnitude of the dam wall  but we were also amazed to see the size of this 2000 year old huon pine stump at the Lake Pedder Lodge nearby. Well worth the drive indeed!

It is with great fondness that we often reflect upon a most memorable road trip, spent in Tasmania in late Summer and early Autumn. I could speak of the glorious colours that herald the approaching of Winter. Or I could dazzle you with the sumptuous delights we experienced as we unashamedly ate our way around [...]

Two years ago in November [2008] we went to Tassie for eight days and we only got to see the North and West. We were based in a small town just out of Launceston called Rutherglen. We arrived at Launceston airport and the staff were so friendly even the car hire people gave us a free [...]
