From the moment we stepped off the plane in Launceston to the purest air I have breathed in my lifetime, we realised we were in for a great experience.
The locals were so helpful, the “Pub” down the road served amazing food with a free smile. City Park was a surprise with the radio station that we were invited to observe, a little monkey zoo in the Park also which kept us in giggles for a long time. The trip out to the Gorge kept us in awe of Nature, the drive down to St.Helens -where we had the best fish and chips on the waterfront, and so many different farm animals than on the mainland. All of which we came across on our drive down to Hobart. The trip to Richmond and the jail was a surprise as was the bakery “to die for” out there.
The Botanical Gardens in Hobart was really a complete surprise to us, it had the most unusual plants and fantastic history as well as a beautiful energy you have to go there to experience.
Port Arthur was a truly great surprise in that they were able to obtain so much history from the early settlers, as was the drive up to Eagle Hawk Neck and the story of the Dog Lines.
Truly so many surprises and lasting experiences I would need to write a novel to tell all. The best part is it is in Australia and anyone reading these stories from others should go and experience this ‘Wonder of the World’ for themsleves.
